Looking Back

Now that a full year has passed since starting this project and blog, I am looking back on what I originally set out to do. When I started, one of the things I promised myself was a reward when I completed my project. The reward was to be a Forge World Eldar Titan for the army.

In my initial post, I detailed a list of what would be built. I want to go over a quick review and see what has been accomplished in the past year.

Original list was:
HQ
1 Avatar (Forgeworld)
*Complete* 1 Autarch with jump pack, mandi-blasters, fusion gun, Power weapon
1 Farseer with swords
3 Warlocks with swords

Elite
5 Firedragons plus 1 Exarch
4 Harliquins with Kisses plus 1 Shadow Seer plus 1 Troupe Master
*6 + 1 complete* 9 Howling Banshees plus 1 Exarch with mirror swords
9 Striking Scorpions plus 1 Exarch with Scorpion claw
*Complete* 5 Wraithguard

Troops
*Complete + Exarch* 9 Dire Avengers plus Exarch with Twin-Catapults
*Complete + Exarch* 9 Dire Avengers plus Exarch with Twin-Catapults
*WIP* 5 Pathfinders

Fast Attack
9 Swooping Hawks plus 1 Exarch with sunrifle
*Complete* 9 Warp Spiders plus 1 exarch with twin Spinners and Power blades

Heavy
4 Dark Reapers plus 1 Exarch with Tempest Launcher plus 1 Exarch with Shurican Cannon
*Complete* 2 Falcon Grav Tanks
1 Wraithlord with Sword and Bright Lance
3 War Walkers with Shurican Cannon and Scatter Laser

Misc
*1 complete* 3 Wave Serpent Grav Transports with Twin-linked Missile Launchers

So out of this list, I have made some changes. I have decided I have the following to complete before I start looking for the Titan:

HQ
1 Avatar (Forgeworld)
1 Farseer with swords
3 Warlocks with swords

Elite
5 Firedragons plus 1 Exarch
4 Harliquins with Kisses plus 1 Shadow Seer plus 1 Troupe Master
3 Howling Banshees plus 1 Exarch with mirror swords

Troops
6 Guardian Jetbikes (2 shurican cannon bikes)
5 Pathfinders

Heavy
4 Dark Reapers plus 1 Exarch with Tempest Launcher plus 1 Exarch with Shurican Cannon
1 Wraithlord with Magnetized Weapons
3 War Walkers with Magnetized Weapons

Misc
1 Wave Serpent Grav Transports with Magnetized Weapons

This still leaves me with a fair number of models to assemble and paint, along with at least 2 full squads (Scorpions and Swooping Hawks) still to acquire. I have also added to the original list, but I can work on those in the future. Specifically, I would like to have a full squad of Phoenix Lords to field the Apoc Formation Phoenix Court. I also figure I should assemble and paint at least 1 Vyper, as I have 2 or 3 of the kits now. Overall, I am confident on getting this done early this year so I can move on to my WHFB project. I am intimidated by my own plans for my Avatar, but I am confident that will work itself out.
So I have been quiet but that is not due to the typical no activity. As a matter of fact, I have been doing a fair amount of painting and perhaps some of my best painting to date. I have been working on my Capt. Badruk model for a 40K radio contest. I will get him posted after the judging for the contest is complete.

I did get a small bit of work done on y squad of 5 Rangers/Pathfinders. I have not "Dead Tau'd" them yet, but have gotten some base coats onto the models.

Thats it for now. I am off to San Jose next week and then will be back to hobby time. I want to get the Rangers complete and add in the Tau Top-knots and bonding knives to the models. I will also post my Badruk once the voting is complete.

Progress

I have made progress on my army, and gotten a few things done. On the last post I showed some in progress pictures of the tanks. Here they are completed.

This is Falcon #2 with the attached (magnetized) shirikan catapults under the front.

He is Falcon 1, with no under slung weapon. I am trying to figure out how to build an under slung shurikan cannon.

And a picture of both Falcons, with the magnetized weapons for each laid out.

And now the first Wave Serpent.

Another view:

As well as getting those complete, I dropped by GW Sugarland yesterday, hung out, and did work on my BoneSinger model. I am not sure how I will be using this guy (Farseer, Warlock, Spiritseer), but he will likely be a stand in for any of these as the army grows. I still need to put him on a slightly larger base so that he matches the rest of my Exarchs and HQ.

And a view of the back.

So that's it for now. I will be doing a Cpt Badruck for the 40K Radio Freeboota contest and also dropped 5 rangers/pathfinders onto the primer box. These will be my next projects.

Tanks......

I figured I would post some in progress pictures. I have been working on 2 Falcons and a Wave Serpent. Base coat with the Spray gun, Magnetized weapons, and details painted with the brush.

Here is a base coated Falcon.

Falcon with some details in progress.

Wave Serpent nearly done. I still have some cleaning up to do, and additional detail on the gems.

Holidays mean Hobby Time

Holiday seems to be the time for Hobby-ing! I have put together and painted up my Banshee squad, although it is not yet a full squad. Here are the pictures of 6 banshees (I got an extra in the box) and the exarch. Will need to pick up another box at some point to bulk up to 10 Banshees, and put together a mirror sword Exarch.

Here is a quick pic of the full squad.

Closer look at half the squad.

Closer look at the other half of the squad. On both halves I have a Banshee with a load of blood on her base. I initially thought this may have been to much, but then remembered they are modelled after having sliced a Firewarrior in half. Justification for that much blood? I think so.

Close look at the Exarch. I modeled the Exarch chopping through a Crisis suit.

Now I am on to my tanks. GW Sugarland is having a "New Ride for the New Year Demolition Derby" on Saturday, and I want to bring some tanks with me. I currently have 2 Falcons and 1 Wave Serpent assembled and primed. I magnetized all the weapons and will start painting today. I plan to coat the top with the Citidel Spray Gun and then paint the weapons, canopy, and details with a brush.
